I first met Anthony Novelli (a.k.a. Novelli) in 1996 while working for Malcolm Pirnie in their corporate headquarters in White Plains, New York. Novelli headed up the CADD Group back then and was the go-to person for any type of CADD issue. The company had adopted its own customized version of AutoCAD, called "Pirnie-CADD", which was developed and coded mostly by Novelli himself. The system was years ahead of anyone else's CADD system and included a customized software configuration which allowed over 1,200 employees to share data files while working extremely efficiently with various CADD platforms. Pirnie-CADD included numerous state of the art benefits including custom menu's for each discipline as well as the ability to batch plot hundreds of drawings for large municipal projects at the click of a button. Proof of Pirnie-CADD's cutting edge technology is the fact that it wasn't until years later that AutoDesk finally provided the same capability to batch plot with their "out-of-the-box" software.
I left to start my own consulting firm in 2003 and have worked with Novelli on numerous projects since then. Novelli guided me through the setup of my first CADD workstation and helped me to establish CADD standards which have allowed my firm to run AutoCAD efficiently over the years with virtually no downtime.
We now have ten CADD workstations and are currently going through a major upgrade from a 2D CADD environment to Civil 3D. Novelli has completed an assessment of our entire system and is now in the process of updating our workstation and software configurations and helping us develop our own customized version of AutoCAD.
